Freezer is fine, refrigerator temp is too high

Our fridge temperature is ranging from 64-57 degrees while the freezer is at 0. On the surface, everything seems to be working okay (some air coming from the vents, low humming in the back) but the fridge temp is not going down. So, we did a manual defrost of the refrigerator and cleaned up a pool of water from the coils tray in the back. When we re-plugged the temp became okay (37 for fridge and 0 for freezer) but the next day again while the freezer temp stayed okay, the fridge temp started going up and is now back to 64 degrees.

We haven’t done much hands on work with the fridge in the past so detailed step by step instructions would be very helpful.

Most probable problem is the defrost heater behind the freezer panel. Difficult to give specific help, beyond the scope of this forum.

Thanks for your response. Can the defrost heater be easily replaced?

Yes, just remove the back freezer panel. If the heater is black with a gap, it’s bad, get a new one here.
