Noticed the freezer wasn’t cold enough to keep food frozen. Upon checking the condensor fan, noticed it wasn’t rotating while the condensor was on. Manually started the condensor fan and within a few hours things were frozen. The fan intermittently continued to not spin and hand to be started by hand. I ordered a new motor and replaced it. Just prior to replacing it, things in the freezer weren’t frozen. I’m not sure through the day, while I was at work, if the fan had gotten stuck or not. Anyway, I replaced the fan and put everything back together. I gave the underside of the fridge a good cleaning with a shop vac and air compressor.
The next day the freezer seemed warmer than when the condensor fan wasnt spinning. I removed everything from the freezer, removed the rear panel, and saw the evaporator fan was spinning fine, but the top of the coils were frosted pretty good. So much that I couldn’t even see the defrost thermostat. I removed it all with my hand as it was just frost, not ice. I removed the defrost thermostat and checked the ohms. It checked out good. I reattached the defrost thermostat (on the top coil still, but the one closest to the door, it was on the top coil furthest to the back). I left it overnight and checked it this morning. All the fans/condensor are working and the evapirator coils are all cold and all have a small amount of frost on them, however it isn’t cold enough to freeze the otter pop I left in there.
Thoughts, help?
