Freezer not cold

My freezer is defrosting and not cold at all…cool at best. I checked the coils and they are fine, free from ice…is there anyone who can tell me why the freezer is not working?

Here are your parts, includes a wiring diagram.

First you have to determine what is running and what is not.

Are both the condenser/compressor fan and the evaporator/freezer fan running?
Is the compressor running? Usually you can hear it but you should also be able to feel it vibrating and it should be warm.

If yes to the above are they cycling or on all the time?

If on all the time remove the cover in the freezer so you can inspect the evaporator coils.

If they are heavily iced/frosted over you may have a defrost problem.

If there is no frost or just frost in one area (usually where the freon enters the coils), it is probably a sealed system problem.
Be sure that the compressor has run for an hour or so before doing this check. If you do it shortly after a defrost cycle then you will come to the wrong conclusion.
