I am having a time with my fridge. The freezer is supposed to keep the fridge part cool. The problem is that the freezer doesn’t go into defrost mode like it used to, blocks the ducts, and the stuff in the fridge gets warm. Now I have to remove the panel at the back of the freezer and defrost it every 2-3 days.
Any tips on what could be the culprit, or what to look for?
Thank you Gene for the information. I turned the defrost timer clockwise and waited 15 minutes. No sizzling. I tested the defrost heater and it has some resistance. Am I right to assume the problem is the defrost thermostat?
I have been tied up getting a car back in service so the fridge is sitting for now. Curiously enough, I can observe water in the drain pan at times. I assume this is a good indicator that everything is working fine. I will sit back and get some more history. It has been good for three days now and our northern Illinois weather is pretty hot and humid right. Time will tell. Thanks for all the information and for your time. These forums are a good return for broadband costs. Last month I installed a new air conditioning condenser in my Toyota, and before that I got my Whirlpool Duet clothes drier back in serice, all thanks to these web sites. Thanks again for a great service!
I have a GE propane oven. The pilot light will not light. I put in a new safety valve. When I hold a lighter where the pilot light should be and turn on the oven the pilot light will light for a second and then the oven lights and the pilot light goes out but the oven stays lit. Please help, we have been without a oven for over two weeks and we live in Alaska where we have no repair person and miles from anyone. Thanks, my wife will love whoever can fix this and I’m getting hungry. Thanks Bruce
