every once in a while our freezer switches into defrost mode for no reason. I purchased both a Temp Sensor and a Thermistor but not sure how to replace them or if these could be the problem.
How often is it doing this? The controller for your defrost on this refrigerator is the main mother board. However it should go into defrost every 8 to 10 hours. If it is more than that I would replace the mother board. Hope this helps. [part]AP4436216[/part]

I happens maybe once a month. This am we awoke to ice cubes that had melted overnight but fairly quickly the freezer came back on. So could it be either the Temp Sensor or the thermister? Or does it sound like the motherboard? AND THANK YOU!
It sounds like the mother board is sticking in defrost, but lets test the thermistor first to see if it reads good. With a multi-meter you can test the ohms. Here are the readings you should get based on the temperature.
77°F…10,000 ohms
36°F…29,500 ohms
0°F…86,300 ohms
If it test good then I would advise the mother board. Hope this helps.
