I read anothe post and it was a defrost problem as the evaporator core was frozen up. Defrosted it and all was ok it ran 2-3 weeks and now the same thing only not as heavily frozen. I tested the defrost coil and it has continuity so I tested the termostat on the evap coil and it tested at 0 ohms and the defrost timer is turning because if I turn it manually the fridge comes back on. So is my problem the timer maybe having burned contacts and not turning the coil on? Or is it the thermostat because it should have tested closed when it was cold? Should I unplug the thermo out of the circuit and test it again or just replace both the timer and thermo?

I am confused you say the thermostat should have tested closed but it does as 0 ohms is closed.
It should read closed (0 ohms) when frozen and open (infinite ohms) when at room temperature.
