My side by side stopped cooling on me last week. I noticed a loud buzzing noise coming from the kitchen and sure enough nothing was cold inside. The compressor isn’t kicking on. I think the buzz is coming from the compressor/relay area but not certain. I tried putting a long screwdriver on it and listening (old car building trick) but nothing was resonating through.
The buzz will last for about 10 seconds and stop. Compressor doesn’t seem to kick on at all. There’s a black box on the side of the compressor that I’m assuming is some sort of start relay…is this part able to be tested with a meter somehow? Or bypassed to see if the compressor will still kick on?
Thanks in advance for any help. We were planning on buying a new fridge in the spring when we remodel our kitchen so if I can limp this one along a few more months for cheap it would be great.
