Both fans are working and the compressor comes on but yet neither fridge or freezer will cool

You will have to determine whether the evaporator coils are iced over. If they are clogged with ice, this will indicate a defrost problem. If you expose the evaporator coils as the machine runs, and discover a "ball of ice" toward the beginning of the coils, there is a leak of refrigerant, and has lost it’s charge.
