Fridge/Freezer help

I recently purchased a new home with all appliances included. When I moved in the Ice maker in the freezer was off, I turned it on and it started to make ice. Last week the fridge was making an unusual noise, I checked the ice box and it was completely full, overflowing in fact with ice cubes and frost started forming on top of some of the food. I emptied the ice box lowered/checked to make sure the freezer temperature wasn’t to cold and turned back on the ice maker. Today I went to get an ice cream bar and the freezer and ice maker did it again. I’ve emptied all of the ice and turned off the ice maker I tried to trouble shoot it using the booklet but can’t seem to find any info…any help someone can give me would be great! tyvm Lola
