Looking for a new washer since my Maytag Neptune TL has reached an early demise (my thanks to AppPartsPros on helping me make that decision)… what can anybody tell me of the repair history on the Frigidaire Gallery Front Loader GLTF2940 series? How long have they been out made? What you you consider their repair rating to be? Don’t want to buy another dud-machine…
Thanks in advance to anyone who chimes in!!
The short answer is "Don’t". Actually, that is the long answer also.
This is one of the better front loaders in my opinion, but that is like saying the copperhead is one of the better of the venomous snakes. The problem with a front loader is (1) it has microprocesor controls which regularly fail and which give incomplete diagnostics when something else fails (tell me again somebody why you would put electronics that hate vibration, heat and moisture in a machine that generates vibration, heat and moisture when you don’t have to) and (2) the axis is horizontal and the pressure is vertical meaning the forces are aligned against each other.
If you buy one of these be sure to get the extended warranty.
A no-frills top loader will do a great job, cost less, break down less and be less expensive to repair.
Of course, if time, money and aggravation are not a problem, go ahead and get it.
Other than that I do not have a strong opinion.
