Hello, I’m having issues with my fridge and I think I know what is wrong but would like to clarify, it is not staying cold enough. At first I noticed that the evaporator coils were all frosted up so I unplugged the fridge for a night, let everything defrost. I plugged it back in and everything was fine for a couple weeks, then it started to warm up again. The coils were frosted up again so I defrosted them and found the defrost heater was unplugged, I plugged everthing back in and the defrost cycle is working again. Now the freezeer is not freezing and the fridge is warming up again. All the fans are working the defrost is working, the compressor is working, the condensor coils are clean. But on top of the evaporator coils there is frost build up on one of the lines going into the coils, on the other line is the thermostat, would this be a sealed sytem leak and do I need to get a new fridge?
You have a sealed system leak and probable bad compressor. Amprobe and guages would confirm.
