Frigidaire Professional Series Refrigerator beeping

My wife and I just bought a new condo (new to us, but about 7 years old) and it has the original appliances. One of these appliances is a Frigidaire Professional Series side-by-side fridge (model PLHS67EGSBL). It works fine and we haven’t had any issues with it functionality-wise, BUT it has an annoying issue: every two minutes or so it beeps loudly five times in a row (like a truck backing up).

This has been going on since we initially looked at the place 3 months ago so it’s not a new occurrence. Has anyone else run into this and figured it out? I’ve tried turning it off and back on (both from the plug and from the power button, but to no avail). Any ideas?

Hello,

What is shown on the control panel inside the refrigerator? Do any lights flashing? How old is the water filter?

Here are the breakdown diagrams and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/parts-for-frigidaire-plhs67egsb1.html

The only light that’s flashing is the one that says "Door Ajar" - but as far as I can tell, that’s the only light there is.

I’m not sure how old the water filter is but I would assume it’s pretty old. The fridge didn’t seem to be well taken care of. Also, the water and ice tray maker don’t work - I don’t know that it’s getting water into it. Would that cause it to beep?

That beeping caused by the "Door ajar" alarm. The control board senses that the door was open for more than 5 minutes. The problem can be a bad door switch or a bad control board.

Gene it looks like you’re right! I actually taped down the door switch and now the beeping doesn’t happen anymore. If taping the switch down fixes the beeping would that imply that it’s the switch itself and not the control board?

You may want to check how the door is touching the switch when you close it. May be a simple adjustment can fix it.

In such situation I don’t think the control board is involved.
