Ok so here’s the puzzler. Approx 7 yrs old Frigidaire FER341ACO started making loud grinding type of noise…would last a minue or so then subside. gradually got worse. Replaced Rear bearing and housing, idler pully assembly and belt and still got the loud noise at start up then went away, but there was another noise now like the motor was stuggling on each turn of the drum. Not much else to replace but the dryer felts that it spins on and the motor. I really don’t think it is the felt as I had the top off watching it spin and that is not where the noise is comming from. SO, I replaced the motor today and was all excited about a smooth start up. Well you know what that means…not a smooth start up. The original loud noise was there again and as usual it went away. Now, no more motor struggling noise but more of a rattle. Immidiately thought Blower motor but seems to be spinning freely. I know it is vauge and without me holding a phone to it for you to hear it would be difficult to diagnos, but any suggestions?
thanks
The more I listen it really seems like some kind of rattle near the blower. It seems to be spinning freely and is sitting tight on the shaft, what else am I missing
