Frigidaire upright freezer alarms

I have a Frigidaire upright freezer model FFU14F5HWB. When I open the door, the alarm flashes code 8 and the interior light flashes.

When I shut the door it resets and I hear the compressor kick back on. I have tried to research online but no real solutions yet. One answer was the wires going through the bottom hinge get worn and short out when the door is open but I can depress the door switch with door open and it resets fine.

The door switch is cheap and I’m thinking it may be it?

unfortunately no I was not able to fix it, so out by the curb it went last week… free sign lasted about 4 hours…:mad:
