Hello, I have an issue with my Maytag front load dryer, but am also desperately trying to save money with a little one on the way so I was hoping to get advice on my issue to possibly point me in the right direction so I can try to fix it myself, if possible, by just replacing a part without having to call a technician to come out.
A few months ago, the knob on the control panel stopped working. It would not pick a cycle or even light up a cycle, the knob was just "dead". The dryer itself still worked though, and if you just used the timer UP and DOWN buttons you could still choose the length of time you wanted it to dry for, and press start and the dryer would work. A week or so ago, I had the dryer on, and with less than a minute to go, our power went out. (It was a power outage in the neighborhood, not just my home). Now, the dryer timer display still lights up and says "00", however the up and down buttons to adjust the time does nothing, only beeps. It seems like all the buttons I push now just beep, but you cannot adjust the time, settings, etc. If you push start, the dryer starts for a millisecond, but because the timer is stuck at zero minutes left, it just automatically shuts off and the end timer beeps as if the load is complete. Could this be a fuse for the display board? The Control Board itself? Any thoughts are welcome, thanks!
