FYI Maytag Belt Diaagram

I just got done repairing my dryer. Replaced the 2 drum rollers, idler wheel and belt.I downloaded the belt diagram to route the belt, but it doesn`t apply to my model SDE515DAYW…The motor drive shaft is bellow the idler wheel which make it imposible to route to belt around the drum with the ribs facing away from the drum.

I do not know what belt routing diagram you downloaded so here are a couple that may help

As far as I know the ribs should face the drum and the idler wheel rides on the flat side.

The diagram I downloaded is from the frist page and it says the ribs should face away from the drum. The way my motor shaft and idler wheel are configured I found it imposible to do this.

I cannot say what is going on.
They may well have modified the idler and not updated the diagrams.

The ribs must face the motor pulley because it is ribbed to accept them.

Looking at my dryer with the front off ,the motor is on the right side ,below the idler wheel on the left. The drum is above both.

After a lot of searching I did find the following perhaps it will help

You may have to join the site to download the manual but it is a good site for appliance info.

It may help you visualize how the belt should go on if you apply pressure to the idler wheel stretching the spring. This is where the idler should sit once the belt is installed.
