My bake burner will light for a few seconds and then cut off. The broil burner works fine. Tried unplugging for hard reset of electronics, no help. Could it be a bad gas valve?
Remove the Bake burner and check the lighting holes (circled red on the attached picture). If there are only four holes then the Bake burner has to be replaced. If there are eight holes then you have to enlarge them using a drill bit one size bigger.

I just wanted to make sure I was clear on the problem. When I try to start bake cycle (with everything removed so I can see bake burner)
1 - The igniter sparks
2 - The burner comes on, the igniter stops, and it looks like a normal burn(all holes have flame)for maybe 3 to 4 seconds
3 - I hear a faint sound as the flame goes out.
4 - The preheat timer is still counting down on the unit
5 - The unit may try to re-ignite later during this count down with the same results
This happens at all temp settings
There is no gas smell after flame goes out
So, would lighting holes have an effect on the burner staying lit after the spark finishes?
Thanks
I can not guarantee it but very likely - yes.

Removed burner. It had 4 holes. I drilled 4 more holes. Works fine now.
Thanks for the help!
You are welcome. I’m glad to hear you were able to fix it with no cost to you. Thank you for the feedback and good luck with your oven.

Was able to get to the bake assembly. It has 4 holes not the 8. I read that another person who only had the 4 holes drilled 4 more although you said someone with only 4 should buy a new bake assembly.

I would recommend to replace the whole Bake burner assembly.

Thanks for the post that helped me fix my oven. My poor wife was getting frustrated when the Baked Chicken wasn’t done (yet again) after 45 minutes in the oven. All indicators showed that the oven was still functioning properly but the chicken was 1/8th of the way done and the kids were hungry!
After following the instructions in the thread to bore the 8 holes with a drill bit the next size higher and putting the oven back together, my 40 minute test run has an oven working great again! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Thank you very much for your advice! I has having the same problems with my oven and I drilled four more holes but it did not seem to make a difference. Then we made the holes bigger and it worked!
Now I am curious to know why this works. How do bigger holes make a difference?
Thanks so much,
Amanda
Agh now I am back to square one. We drilled 4 more holes in our bake burner and it work that evening but the next day it was back to clicking 4 times, lighting and then going out with 3 seconds. Is there anything else I can try?

I removed the burner, 8 holes, drilled them out, did not fix problem. I have model # sf362lxty2 The burner will ignite, stay lit for 3to5 seconds then goes out, same with the broiler. I omed out the valve, on the broiler side, igot 194.9ohms, and on the oven side, i got 195.5 omes. All i did was clean the inside with easy off, worked great the night before, then yesterday, this problem arose AFTER cleaning???I dont want to spend money on a part i dont need. Thanks in advance Gene
You may want to replace the Bake burner. Per the model number you posted the correct [part]9758078[/part]
Gene.
P.S. If it would not fix the problem you can return it to APP.

But the broiler burner is doing the same? What are the chances both burners went bad? Almost never use the broiler function?
Thanks again!
Well, I missed that the broil burner does the same thing.
Check the igniters for both burners. Make sure they are shiny clean and there is no grease or cleaning stuff left. Check the wires from the igniters.
Gene.
Sorry about the broiler part. I did clean up the connections when i took the burner apart to widen the 8 holes. All connection are good and clean?
Looks like the spark module does not sense the flame. If there is nothing wrong with the igniters, which are the flame sensors as well, then the spark module itself is bad.

Well, everything just started "working" fine for a couple of days, now, the broiler burner is working fine. The bake burner ignites, igniter clicks for for 3 to 5 seconds with the flame, then goes out. I took out the bake burner, cleaned the igniter, still not working correct. Can the spark module fail intermittently? Seem the bake igniter continues to spark, even though there is a flame, so could the igniter be bad because it continues to fire with the flame? I noticed the broiler igniter stops as soon as there is flame???
Thanks Gene!
Make sure the igniter is properly aligned with the burner lighting holes. If this is not the issue, then you have to order the whole bake burner because the igniter is not available separately.
