Gas regulator in Crosley stove

I own an old crosley stove we started smelling a gas smell on the kitchen, called the gas company, they say the stove regulator was the problem. I went on ******** and bought a replacement. When It arrived it looks about the same as the other but the one whole in the regulator that goes torse the front that connects to the pipe that goes to the burners is a diference size than the old one could I just buy a fitting and put in? Or they have to be exactly the same to be safe to use? the other two hole are exactly the same
