Refrig light was off and inside was hot when I opened door. Freezer was also getting warmer. I unplugged it and then plugged it back in after a few minutes. I pressed turbo cool and temp in freezer and refrig cooled back to normal after a few hours. Light in refrig then went on fine when door was opened. Same thing happened the next day. Everything has been ok for last 3 days but I don’t ever hear the usual clicking sounds that the refrig used to make. What could be happenning? Should I call for service?
I am having the same problem! Light was off. Door closed. When I opened the refrig side it was 150-200 degrees inside everything was cooking. Any answers?
You will need to have the main contol board replaced. That was the fix for my problem. Its about a $300 repair. I will never buy GE again. There are other less expensive refrigs that are more reliable. My ice maker also broke after only a few years of use.
Help! I have a pregnant wife who spent all day yesterday preparing meals for the next two weeks that we could thaw out and eat. She worked so hard on them. We stocked up the freezer last night and before going to bed noticed the fridge making a loud click followed by 12-15 seconds of buzzing. Before bed I pulled the unit out and cleaned up as must dust as I could. The fridge and freezer felt cool enough but the click/buzz routine continued overnight every 4-5 minutes.
This morning I find our freezer has not gotten cold enough to freeze the meals my wife made, and our other frozen foods are melted.
Upon removing the cover in the back I find the fan is constabtly running, the black compressor is hot to the touch and the click and buzz appear to be coming from the compressor, still every 4-5 minutes for 12-15 seconds.
I’m just not sure what to do! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I’m a 6/10 on the handyman scale but inexperienced in the appliance world.
Thank you so much in advance.
