I have a GE dishwaher that was not emptying out the tub. I installed a new computer module in it and it worked fine for about a week. Now it will not fill with water. If I run a rinse cycle I can hear the motor/pump for the wash cycle kick in and the drain pump kicks in fine. It just will not fill with water. The unit is less than 5 years old and I am trying to find ideas on what could cause it not to fill with water. Any help or ideas that anyone could give would be appreciated.
First I would check the overfill (flood) switch (Item 308 in Section 2).
Sometimes the float can get stuck in the upo position so the unit thinks it is already full.
Next I would check that the fill valve is getting power when it should.
If not check across the fill valve/flood switch combo. They are wired in series.
If the valve is getting power then the problem is either:
The valve is shot.
The screen filter on the input side of the valve is clogged up. Remove the valve from the unit and clean/check the filter screen. Do not permanently remove it from the valve. It is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold it open andf cause a flood.
Hi guys, thanks for the ideas, advise and the link to the video. It turned out they float switch was bad. Once I replaced that it was good to go and my wife was super happy. You guys were spot on.
