GE Dual Wave not cleaning

Hi,
I have a GE Dual Wave II that will not self clean. I have just been living with it, understanding that the old guy is 10 years old. Now, the lower heating element is not working either.

Is it worth fixing? 27" dual microwave/ovens are VERY expensive.

The model # J KP62G0K2

Thanks for ANY repair help on the two issues. I would like to avoid a kitchen remodel (to fit a 30" in the existing cabinets) or a $3300 Kitchen Aid!

Thanks!

Can you see any visible reason why the lower element isn’t working, charred area, burned into ? (check the wires in the back connected as well) If so replace the element (part # AP2031031)
Especially if you can live without the self clean…will try to look into that more.

Thanks for the quick response Nat!

I can see that the element has charred on about 1/3 of one side. I thought it was crusted food but see that it has lost is strength. I am pretty sure it is nuked and have planned to buy another one.

The self cleaning feature would be nice to get back, but we can live without it if I can get this oven to limp along a little longer.

Any suggestions on the non cleaning? It will lock the door and act like it is cleaning, but no heat.

Thanks again!

Karl

 OK, I must be really dumb, but I don’t see how to install this part. I need remedial help!!! Just saying click it into place is not sufficient for little minds like mine.

I have received the dishwasher tower spray. It would seem that it should be easy to install, however, I can’t see how the part will clip into the piece it’s supposed to fit into. The tower spray is rigid plastic. The piece it is supposed to fit into is old and I would need a screwdriver to fit the first set of clips into. There has to be a way a pro would be able to do this easily. How can I get it to fit in and then the second set of extensions to fit in so I can turn it and click it in place???

We amateurs have trouble, unfortunately. If you can call me to walk it through, I would love that.

Thanks for your help.

Anita

My dryer does not heat, only lukewarm. Which element do I need and how do I put in on?

Hi Linda

I am a little confused, as you say the dryer will not heat, but then say it provides luke warm heat. For repair purposes these are two signficantly different situations.

Let’s assume the dryer gives you luke warm heat and is taking a long time to dry your clothes. The most common cause is something blocking the venting system, or the blower is not functioning. You need to take off the cover of the blower and check it, and then clean out the whole machine, particularly the venting system. When you plug it back in make certain you are getting a strong air flow out the exhaust.

If this does not fix it, post back with more detail about what the machine is doing and we will go from there.

Good luck.
