GE frdge not getting cold, freezer is cold

The problem is that the fridge is gaining temperature (52degrees as i type this) yet the freezer is holding a steady (0)

I have done a little reading, but not sure if the model I have will actually benefit from it. I have posted the link to the full diagram my model number.

The one thing that i have noticed is that a)the ice maker doesnt work (thats not a primary concern for me but may help with the assessment) b) the freezer sides back wall does have frost on it (i was reading there may be a defrost time/etc that may need to be replaced but couldnt find anything like that in the schematics)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

ok i took off the back panel inside the freezer and found the evaporator was covered with a bit of frost and ice.

The fan above it worked fine and was blowing hard.

I noticed that the display for the temp for the freezer did not increase or decrease while working on it. It stayed at 0 degrees when obviously after having it open for about an hour, it shouldnt have.

The fridge still would not cool down.

The evaporator coils should be frozen all over, if not, you probably have system problems, bad compressor, or refrigerant leak. Measure the back wall freezer temperature and post.

After leaving on over night the evap coil is 3/4 frozen.

The temp is 37degrees inside the freezer.

Fridge still not getting cold.

Seems like a bad compressor to me. Either a bad compressor or a refrigerant leak, both very expensive to fix. This assumes the condenser is not clogged.

Could you point out the compressor from the following diagrams so i can take a look to see if it is clogged. Are there any tests i can run (check power etc) to see if it is the compressor?

thank you for the replies!

edit: i see the compressor kit pg 2 item 725

another update…

the evaporator coil no longer is frosty and the freezer is now 55 degrees. It seems that the temperature reader has started to work.

The fan was not on when i opened the door, but immediately kicked on for the freezer after closing it. I assume the freezer will get cold yet again.

You have a motherboard in the back behind a metal cover. Take off the cover, pull out the board and look in the back behind the big power relay. Look for bad solder connections. If ok, it is probably bad AP4436216
