GE fridge ice maker problem

I have a GE GSS20GEWNBB side by side fridge / freezer and the ice dispenser is stuck on crushed. I searched and found a post about a older different model and they said wiggle the metal rod, I did and no fix…what other diagnostics can I do…I’m a diesel mechanic and don’t have money for service call any help would be greatly appreciated and a God send.

Forgot to mention… when on cubed it makes a whining noise after you remove cup from dispenser.
