GE Front-Load Trouble Code

My relatively new Front-Load GE Electrice Dryer will not do anything. I have power to the appliance as verifed by my Volt meter and the lite inside the drum turns on when the door is opened BUT that is all that works. The "display" show a "E61" code and will not clear even when the dryer is unplugged. Upon plugging it back in the "E61" comes on again and the dryer is unresponsive to any on the controls.

Any help will be appreciated as we have just return home following Hurricane Ike’s forced evacutation and the laundry pile is growing rapidly.

If it is les than a year old call GE to send a tech out, if you work on it yourself would void your warranty.

Thanx again for the timely repsonse. My wife just informed me that dryer was 1 year old in August '08 , and I was thinking maybe there was a quick fix to clear the code and allow the dryer to run. We had lost power here at home and have just gotten power back after 12 days of being in the dark.

There should be a wiring diagram inside the control panel with the technical information you need. I can’t pull it up online, sorry. I can see all the parts & part numbers, just not the error codes.

Was just wondering if you ever got this figured out? I have the same error code on my dryer that was just moved from one residence to another. Please let me know if you ever got this figured out or not. Thanks Classydame75@aol.com
