Our ice maker on our GE side by side is not working. I have unplugged the unit for 24 hours to make sure nothing is frozen. Water dispenses fine and filter was changed two months ago. The (interior green) light was blinking once, but after I turned the switch off, then on again, it remained on. When I push the button on the panel, it sounds like it’s trying to dispense, but there’s nothing to dispense. After I unplugged unit, I did get one round of ice, so it appears it can make ice. I’m wondering if it has something to do with the lever that’s behind the ice unit. It seems like it’s loose. Is there a spring or something that keeps it taught? Thank you!
Locate the water inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator. Swap the wires between the two water valve solenoids. Push the water dispenser release for a few seconds and check if there is water in the ice maker.
If there is no water, make sure the water feeding tube into the ice maker is not frozen. If the tube is fine, replace the water inlet valve.
If there is water in the ice maker, replace the ice maker.
