The freezer side of my GE Profile refrigerator is NOT cooling down to the set temperature and I can hear a lot of noise on the back. It’s like the motor wants to work harder to achieve the desired temp. I had a diagnose done and was told that the main board (PN WR49X10152) needs to be replaced. They also quoted me with a hefty service charge (parts and labor comes to $450) to replace the board. My questions are:
Can it be done by following the instruction or must I need the professional help?
Is that "safe" to order the part online? By safe, I mean its warranty vs. ordering from GE.
Has anyone done this project before? Do you have any advise?
I did not see any replies and I am thinking to change the motherboard as well - my fridge is about 4 yrs old so I don’t think that i will impact any warranty???
I bought the same board on ******** and followed the direction that came with it. The connectors, if I remember correctly, are not 1 for 1. Follow the direction on step at a time. Hopes that helps.

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?
I have a PSC23PSTA - Profile/Artic about 4 yrs old which was about 7 degrees warmer in the freezer and refrigerator. This lasted for 2 days and returned to normal. Two days later, it warmed up again and returned to normal after one day. This happened also a few months ago, but it started working after powering off on on but this does not help anymore.
In addition, for about one year the icemaker does not receive water and therefore doesn’t make ice although the water is working in the outside door.
On the refrigerator it says to replace ONLY with WR55X10156 but I have found out that WR4910152 superceeds it so I have ordered it. I received wr49x10147 instead of wr49x10152 and I am thinking to return it. Is this the same thing ?
Is there a list of compatible boards and the fixes which each board has ?
What am I missing by not getting the newer wr49x10152 ?
The fan next to the compressor is running. I run a diagnosis and failed only on the communication between the motherbord and the dispenser if I remember corectly.
GE had redesigned those boards a few times and changed the part numbers every time. The board with the WR49X10147 part number has never been an authorized replacement for WR55X10156 board… The next version after WR55X10156 was WR49X10138 and then it was replaced by WR49X10152.
Whoever sold you this board did it wrong and must exchange it.
I opened the refrigerator and WR49X10147 was also installed. Sounds like these were shipped in 2006/2007 with this board or it was replaced by the previous owner - I moved in the house a year and a half ago.
