GE Prodigy won't start disconnected ground

Hi all,

I have a GE Profile Prodigy electric dryer that won’t start.

The screws holding the drum to the bearing had stripped out so I just replaced them. I turned the dryer on and it ran great. opened the door to check that the drum was spinning and then it wouldn’t turn on again.

I checked the timer switch, the door switch, thermal fuse, and start switch and they are all good.

Behind the switch panel there is a green ground wire that is connected to the panel with a screw the other end has a terminal clip but is not connected to anything. Is that what is causing the problem? I cannot see where it is supposed to clip to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the wiring diagram that goes to the machine? I’ve had the spade connectors come loose after having the machine apart.
