GE Profile Front Load

When my washer changes cycles during washing and spinning it makes 2-4 loud thumps and becomes quiet until the next cycle change. I haven’t tried to take it apart yet, just wanted any clues anyone may have.

This is a Frigidaire made model sold under the GE label. How about that!

Anyway, take off the top and back and look at the support structure, the springs and the counter weight. It may be something simple like the counterweight is loose or broken.

Knowing Frigidaire, It might be a support spider busted inside the tub, usually if you hand turn the spin basket, you will feel it.

Sid,
I followed your directions and I had 2 broken shocks. Are the pins a 1 time use item or can they be re-used? I can’t find them on the Appliance Parts list of replacement parts.

If the pins are still solid you should have no problem using them. If not, talk to the APP parts folks when you call in the order.

Glad you found the problem, good luck!

They are actually slitted. The detent that serves as a lock had to peel back when I pulled them out. I was going to order things online but I’ll take your advice and call it in instead.
