GE Profile Washer Does Not Spin with Heavy Load

Washer fills, agitates, drains, but does not spin when the load is more than a couple t-shirts.
The only previous problem was that it was overly loud during the spin cycle.

The only thing I’ve tried is cleaning out the pressure tube, but no dice so far.

[SIZE=3]The belt may be worn out and you may have a bad clutch. Check the belt to see if it is worn out. Run the washer with your heavy load and look under the motor to see your clutch. If the motor is turning very fast and the clutch isn’t turning at all you have a bad clutch. Make sure the clip that should be on the bottom of the clutch is still there and if not replace the clip. [SIZE=3]If it is overly loud during spin it could be that the tub seal is leaking. Start the washer into a wash cycle then watch for a leak where the tub meets the transmission. If you see any water even if it is only one drop during the wash cycle the tub seal is bad. A leaking tub seal can cause the belt to wear out and sometimes the clutch. If it gets to the point that it is noisy in spin (and the tub seal is leaking) you will have to replace the transmission to correct the problem (transmission comes with a tub seal). Hopefully it will just be the clutch or the belt but check for that leak because if it is leaking and you change the belt or clutch they may fail again. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=3]If the tub seal isn’t leaking all you will have to do is replace the belt, the clutch or both. If you are lucky all that is wrong is the little clip on the clutch. [/SIZE]

I didn’t notice a leak while it was running, but there was some wetness underneath the washer itself.

The belt looks ok as far as I can tell, but then again what do I know.

[SIZE=3]As far as the leak goes it could be as little as a few drops per load. There have been times were I watched them forever before it leaked. Lets hope not because this would be the worse case scenario.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=3]It looks to be a lot of dust under the clutch, which is an indication that it is bad. But before you put a clutch on make sure the bottom pulley on the transmission will turn both ways by hand without a great deal of effort. When you turn it one way the whole transmission and tub should turn and the other way only the agitator will turn. If everything turns fine replace the clutch. [/SIZE]
