GE Profile Washer only spins for 2 seconds, then stops, then smokes

Hello,

GE Profile Washer, model# WNSB8060B0WW , is not spinning correctly. In dry & spin mode, it will start spinning and spin for a couple seconds, then stop spinning. This is repeatable many times. If left to continue, it does not resume spinning. There is a click as it stops spinning [gear change?] and when it isn’t spinning, nothing is spinning… no shaft, or any other movement. Please see http://photos.alphadreams.com/g/temp for pictures of part that is smoking and a look inside the washer. I suspect it is the transmission, which should be under waranty, but I don’t know how to prove this to GE. Thanks.

Why do you have to prove it if the washer does it and you can show it to a GE tech?

don’t want to call ge tech out unless it is transmission…

If the washer is less than a year old then the whole washer is under the warranty.

It’s from 2002…

I think it’s the 2-step motor [1 step not working]… not sure if this quals as transmission or not
