GE PSS26SGPA SS No water/ice

I have an 7 year old GE SxS that stopped dispensing water & Ice. I purchased the Main Control board and installed it. No luck. I installed the old board back in and it started to work again for about 2 minutes and then stopped again. What the heck…

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.

Wayne,

When you press the paddles, can you hear the actuator switch "click" ?

Sounds like an intermittent contact in the switch, or a loose wire connection in the harness.

Thanks for the reply Joe. I do hear a faint click sound. When i do push on th paddles, the light of the item selected goes out and the area light also turns off.

Where is this harness located? i looked, but i didn’t see one.

Thank you for the help.

Bottled water is getting expensive. I miss using the fridge.

Wayne,

Are you sure, you did not mix up any connectors on the motherboard, when you switched them ?

Based on your post description, you most likely have a bad dispenser control board, and or a bad actuator switch.

Here are the dispenser interface removal instructions(from the service manual).

Once you have it dismantled, check the foil tracers on the board for damaged or dark or burnt areas, and any damaged or loose connections to the wire harness coming out of the door interior.

Good Luck,

My dryer has quit completely drying in the Automatic Setting. I have tried other settings and they work as they should. Air ducts are clear and plenty of air coming out. I cleaned the electrodes with rubbing alcohol and that helped a little bit. Would you recommend just going ahead and replacing the electrodes, or is there a possible problem that I have overlooked?

Hi,

Did you clean out the inside of the blower housing too as shown in this photo?

I know you said there was good air flow, but even so it may feel like it’s blowing out good even when the blower housing has lint packed in it.

Can’t say I have ever had to replace electrodes you cleaned. Should be able to just clean them up if that’s the problem.
