GE Quietpower Dishwaster - incomplete draining

Hello everyone;

I’ve got a GE Quietpower 3 dishwasher - model GHDA485N10CS- that is not draining completely. I did some investigation and testing over the weekend and here’s the deal.

  1. When the spray arm and round "fine" filter that surrounds the base of the spray arm are removed, the dishwasher drains completely with a strong flow to the disposal.

  2. When the spray arm and round filter piece are in place, the drain flow is quite weak (although it does flow), and a significant amount of water is left in the unit when the cycle is finished. The flow with the pieces in place seems to be about 1/3 the flow when the pieces are removed.

Any help you could provide would be GREATLY appreciated.

This forum has a lot of questions, but few answers lately. I know there are a few wizards out there with some knowledge to share…

I’ve read threads about cleaning out the sump, all the normal "no drain" solutions…what throws me here is that the washer drains perfectly with the spray arm and circular fine filter removed (no blockages in the filter).

Please help! Please?
