GE radiant top range

One of the large burners recently quit working. Everything else is working fine. I am assuming it just needs a new element. Just wondering if you could give some tips on trouble shooting the problem and how difficult this would be to replace. Thanks for your time.

I,

A bad burner element is a good guess,

But, I would start at the burner infinite switch, were it me.

It’s the more likely component to fail, and easier to work and test.

With power off to the range, and the wires off at the back of the switch(label them first).

Turn on the switch and check for a closed circuit between the L1 and H1 terminals.

Then test from L2 to H2 terminals, both circuits should close when the knob is in the "on" position, and an open circuit, when the knob is in the "off" position.

Good Luck,
