Freezer motor would start and stop continuously. I lowered the "cold" number to zero then set number for freezer at 5 and fridge at 2. Now freezer does not freeze and Fan continually runs. Temp stays around 35F in freezer and refrigerator is around 50F. 
Took off back panel in freezer, coils covered in frost. checked defrost Thermostat 0.2 ohms, checked heater-shows open. I think I need a new heater and Thermostat.
