GE side by side freezor and frig not cooling

Have a GE GSS25QGMD WW side by side. Freezer quit working first then refrig. All lights work, water and ice augur working. Condensor and evaporator fan working. Compressor not running (no voltage to compressor). I do have the electrical diagram

Richappy, Thanks for your reply. I looked over the motherboard but found no anomalies. Do you have any other suggestions? Can it get stuck in the defrost cycle, shutting down the compressor til all has melted?

You can check the motherboard pin J1-5 to J1- 2 for the thermistor resistance value.

Rich, I did your above recommendation and the thermistors tested 5.8 6.2 & 5.8 on the 20k scale. Any other suggestions?

I found this information on appliance-repair-it.com

"If the fan is running but the compressor is not, then the main board is more than likely the problem. But it could also be start relay. If the start relay is bad the compressor will try to start every so often (every 3-5 minutes). If this is happening replace the start relay and if not the main board is the problem".

This kinda goes back to your original comment about a possible bad solder joint.

Of course my compressor doesn’t run at all. So between J8 and orange on the motherboard I should have 115v. I don’t, so that points to a motherboard problem. There is a comp relay on the motherboard is this replaceable? or are there test points to point to a low/high voltage problem on the board.

Thanks again for your reply.

Sure seems like a bad motherboard. Order it from this site, have the best price on the internet.

Installed the new motherboard that we purchased from Appliance parts pros. Oh how sweet was the sound of the compressor starting. A big thanks to richappy!

You are welcome. Failures of this board are rarely just a bad power relay, most of the time it is an internal electronic failure not easily fixable.
