Have GE side by side #”GSS22KGPC WW” that the food side is freezing up started yesterday appears that the compressor is always running also the water dispenser in door is frozen.
You might have a jammed damper door AP3420682 in the refrigerator left side.
If ok and allways moves to the open position when you manually close it, you might have a bad motherboard AP4297272 or bad thermister in the fridg section. The fact that it is running constantly tells me it may just be a stuck power relay on the motherboard.
If you have no meter and meter skills, best to get it serviced.
You can disconnect the damper door motor cable and jam half way open the damper door. Your fridg will work fine till service person comes. Some of my customers just leave it that way, can’t afford service cost! You just take a risk in case the motherboard is bad and getting worse.

have some skill with meter how do i test?
thanks
Pull your schematic and check the thermistor resistance of the fridg thermistor at the motherboard. But first I would check your damper door.

took damper door cover off and the door was open and i closed it by hand and it stade closed. good or bad?

New development looked at door now it’s open, closed it again and turn off box and door closed by it self, turn back on and it opened up.
Seems that your damper door motor is working ok. What does the damper door do when you unplug refrigerator? I believe there is a spring in there that forces it shut.
If ok, I would check your thermistors for out of range resistance per your schematic.Thermister resistance 65Kohm at -13 degrees 12 kohm at +40 degrees., 5kohm at 78 degrees. The thermister pins are on the motherboard upper right J1 connector. J1- 5 common 5 volts, Ji-1 fresh food thermister, Ji-2 fresh food thermister, Ji-3 freezer thermister, J1-4 evaporator thermister used to terminate defrost.
The signals to the damper door are on/ off/ on/ off, no analog control signal. Frigidaire the same way, either you get voltage to open the door, or not, no voltage= door shut, voltage = door open. Makes it hard to troubleshoot!!
If you monitor the damper door and find it never closes and your thermistors check out ok, I would change your motherboard AP4297272
Please go to the "sticky" GE (GSand HS) models for my article "damper motor test", you will find it as the last comment.
closes when unpluged where do i find "Please go to the "sticky" GE (GSand HS) models for my article "damper motor test", you will find it as the last comment.
Very first "sticky" in this refrigerator section, just some facts for posterity that I added, probably not relative to your problem except IF the damper motor is bad, you must replace it or the motherboard will blow, you can thank GE for that.

does this box have a self diagnostic test? found a GE techical service guide PUB #31-9072 per the PUB i can get it to go to test mole??? then it goes back to the temp settings does not tell me anything.
I have heard there is test equipment for diagnostics that is very expensive.
This damper motor is a dc motor that is driven open and closed by two motor windings. Again, if the thermisters check out correct for the temperatures they are exposed to, you must have a bad motherboard, particularly that the damper door operates to close and to open.
Thanks For The Help Got New Board From Ge For $80.00 Put It In And Running Fine
Thanks Again
Glad you got it fixed.
Need some more help GE sent me a new motherboard and I installed it and it work fine now a month and half later the box is doing the same thing frizzing up everything the refrigerator side.
GE said that they might be something more wrong with the box. I check everything again lasts night and it shows the M/B is bad.
What else could be wrong?

IT’S BEEN7 MONTHS SINCE I GOT IT FIXED NEW MOTHER BOARD ONE MONTH LATER TRANSDUCER ON THE FRIG SIDE NOW THE FRIG SIDE IS WARM CHECKED THE DAMPER DOOR AND APPEARS TO BE WORKING OPEN AND CLOSES BUT NO AIR FLOW THRU DAMPER. ANY IDEAS
THANKS
got home and took the cover off the evaperator and is one big ice cube
any help
I would manually force defrost per the instructions in the sticky above, GE (GSS & PSS) models. Complete defrost with a hair dryer.
The Deforst Heater Was Fried
Thanks Again
