GE side by side not cooling properly

I have a PSC23NSTDSS serial # RL449436. It’s only 3 years old and my wife noticed that the refrigerator side wasn’t cooling properly. It is set at 35, but the digital reading says its 49. The freezer is set at 0, but it says its 2. The ice is melting in the ice maker. Please help!

Thanks,
Chris

Gene,

Thanks for the info! I was able to remove the panel and discovered the frost all over the coils. I cannot find the defrost timer. Do you know if this model has one?

This model does not have any defrost timers. There is main control board on the back of the refrigerator, which controls all functions. You can find some test instructions in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/refrigerator-freezer-repair/4221-freezer-fine-refrigerator-too-warm-3.html, in the reply addressed to bohemian.

Gene.

I replaced the main control board and I am still having problems. I just ordered the thermostat def (WR50X10069) and the sensor temp ff (WR55X10025), however it did not come with any instructions. How difficult is it to replace these two parts? Does the freezer have to be totally defrosted?

Looks like some wires need to be spliced. Can I use regular electrical tape or is there special tape to use in the freezer?

The best thing is to use a wire nuts and cover them with a regular insulation tape…
