GE Spacesaver won't shut off

Hello, we have a GE Spacesaver Eterna Series, Model# EMO3000HWW05, SN# ZH900001B, Manf Date is December 2005

The microwave made a few arcing sounds during a cooking cycle, afterwards it seemed to work ok, But went to heat a baby bottle, and closed the door and it makes the noise like the unit is on but you can not set cook times or anything like that. It seems to be "stuck" in a cycle of some sort.

I can change the clock settings, I can unplug it and plug it back in, and the unit is still running when the door is shut. Open the door, unit shuts off, interior light stays on, but still can’t set any proper cook times.

I don’t see any error codes displayed, after plugging back in it goes thru the GE We Bring Good Things To Life ad scroll like normal, but still is in this " phantom " on state.

I really need to tackle this if I can, wife and I are both disabled vets on a very tight budget, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m in a wheelchair but can still use my arms well, so any disassembly, or stuff like that I can do I think. Just don’t know how to narrow down what part or connection is defective or needs replaced.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Respectfully,

Michael

Actually this one is pretty simple, the upper door switch is bad. You will need to remove the upper vent cover, remove the one screw holding the control panel on. Push up on the control panel. The latch bracket is there to the left, that holds the 3 switches. The upper one is the problem.

Thanks a ton, after scooting the kitchen table over, transfering on top of it, and removing the parts needed to get to the switch, I found that the connecter had wiggled off, probably due to my 3 kids slam fest of the door.

Reguardless, rehooked the wires, put it all back together and it works fine.

Thanks for your help, knowing where and how to look at a issue is 75% of the battle.

Respectfully,

Michael
