the light on the stove top will not go out. it looks like the burners are still on. they stay a little warm. can’t turn it off???

I really can’t see how that could be possible but the only way it could would be if there was a short in the appliance somewhere. That could be very dangerous! :eek: I strongly suggest you have a qualified technician look into it for you and also disconnect power from the appliance until it can be serviced.
If in fact just the light is staying on and the elements are not actually staying warm, there just may be a shorted pilot contact in one of the switches.
If just one element was staying warm, that element being shorted to ground is a possibility and that failure could also cause the element ON indicator to glow depending on how the range was wired. In that case disconnecting power from the appliance is also a good idea as the condition could also present a shock or electrocution hazard. :eek:
