I’m troubleshooting this top loader washer for my elderly neighbor who can’t afford the $95.00 service call or a new washer.
GE won’t help troubleshoot or give me an hourly rate for repair. The local repair shop said they would help me troubleshoot over the phone and get me the parts I need BUT when they connected me to Tech support he said it could be a 100 different things wrong with it. My comment to him before I hung up on him was there is only about 10 parts to the whole tub assemble and drive train…
The inner tub seems very loose, when put into the spin cycle the agatitor spins very fast right off the start and then the inner tub slips then bounces wildly off the insides of the machine while the agitator stays centered and spinning at a higher then normal rate. I also found some metal parts inside the tub. I have not took the machine apart yet. I think it may be a hub or tub seal that needs replacing but don’t know and I’m not sure if it is something I can do without special tools or knowlage of washers. I am capable of most appliance repairs just never pulled a tub out of a washers before.
Any help would be great.
Thank You,
Frank
