ge washer know repair

Help! Is there a trick to getting the selector knob off of my ge washer?
It seems to be broken(or the timer knob skirt is broken)I’m not sure what part to order & how to get it off to see what the problem really is. ( It very easily spins without resistance.) It logically seems to me that this may be a commom problem:confused:

Go to section 2

Look at the back of the knob, there should be teeth on the part that goes into the timer, chances are those teeth are ground down, if there’s no teeth you need a new knob. Order a new keeper as well.

also I did not get that breakdown of the knob and timer. thanks:)

on the left side, select section 2, that is the breakdown

Ok, I guess I need to order both parts. It looks that you need to take the whole top assembly apart to install them. Do you think I should call some one in to fix it?

if your just replacing the knob and keeper, you don’t have to remove anything. just put the keeper on the knob just enough so it stays on without it sliding down the groove, put the knob on the timer shaft, then push the keeper in place.

No I’m mistaken–It’s the other part on th actualthat has the teeth that looks stripped it’s the end cap rh wheel

my oven shuts off while in use and a f3 code flashes on the display panel.when i turn the smaller oven on it keeps the main oven working.

I have a Whirlpool washer that smells like something is burning when it is in the spin cycle. It is a direct drive model and I just replaced the pump thinking that might be it. Another thread mentioned that it could be the Drive Motor Coupling. Does that sound like something I should look at further? The motor is not getting hot and there is no smoke. It still seems to wash just fine. But the smell is getting to be more than we can handle.

BTW It also makes a loud clunk when the spin cycle finishes,

Me too, In addition, I have found oil sprayed all around the lower insides. My thought is that it’s got to be more than just the coupling, but not sure.
I need to know soon as well.

I just replace the washer pump…ran one cycle to make sure it would drain…everything worked…ran three towels and it started to smell like it was burning just as it started the rinse cycle…the washer also makes a clunk sound
