GE top loader WPER6100G2 about 9 years old.
Washer has following symptoms:
- Very load roaring sound during spin cycle. Dryer is just very loud and does not vibrate excessively to move on floor.
- Coincident with this issue, washer often/randomly activates agitator during fill cycle (i.e. on dry/partially wet clothes before set water level is attained).
- With empty washer, low level roaring sound occurs when manually turning the drum in clockwise or counterclockwise direction. This is new and started with the spin cycle noise issue.
I replaced the Tub Bearing and problem persists. Tub Bearing replacement seemed to reduce the “grating/metallic” sound in the roar but load roar persists. Wondering if Mode Shifter is the culprit. Only other idea is a Supension Rod and Spring but all seemed tight and functional during recent Tub Bearing Repair work.
All input and ideas welcome.
