ge washer won't spin fast

i have a ge washer that works great until it stop spinning fast on the spin cycle. it does spin on the spin cycle but not fast any help please reply. thanks

Remove the front panel and locate the green LED on the right side on top of the motor on the inverter plate. Monitor and calculate number of flashes during a 6 seconds period. Post the result.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?diagram_id=26408627&&model_id=5212547

the green led light flashed 9 times in 6 seconds, thanks.

This means that the brake resistor failed. This code will limit the motor to 50 rpms. I recommend clearing the code and if the code returns replace the motor. this page will explain how to clear the code. http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/GE-washer-repair.html

Disconnect the power for a minute. Reconnect power then open & close the lid 10 times within 12 seconds. If it would not eliminate the problem then replace the motor. You have to reset the motor codes again before replacing the motor.

When I saw that there was 9 flashes I reset the computer and it now spins fast, saved myself at least $100. Great site,thx.

I have one that did the same thing and it turned out to be the 6 pin connector
at the motor the orange wire was not making good contact and so I cleaned the # 6 pin with sand paper and squeezed the connector at the 6 pin receiver enough to tighten the fit and reset the motor by opening and closing the lid 6 times within 12 seconds in 30 seconds after plunging the machine back in and now she works just fine. hope this helps.
