GE XL44 oven woes: temp knob fell out, how to remove cover?

Somehow the oven temperature knob fell off my oven old GE XL44 oven (bought in 2002). Upon closer inspection, it looks like the ‘controller’ with the shaft fell inside the burner pan. I managed to pry the top open enough to find it laying inside, and found a bolt below the rear burners.

It looks like 2 bolts somehow removed themselves. However, I can’t figure out how to open the top the entire way. The igniters seem to be sitting on top of the pan, which I guess it means it’s clipped from below, however, I can’t lift the hood since after removing the burner bolts, the igniters are still attached and I’m afraid of wrecking the plumbing. It doesn’t look like these can be pried out as some other videos show, but it looks like there are multiple variations of this XL44 model.

*]Has anyone seen bolts go missing like this? I found another section on the door which has a bolt only half in (bought it new)
*]Any suggestions about how to remove these igniters would be welcome

Cyberdingo,

We will need to have the model number of your range to be able to assist properly with your question. The XL44 is a generalized model. Look in the storage drawer area for the model number.

I actually looked for the model #, but couldn’t find anything. In the end, due to multiple other issues and the age of the appliance, it has been decided to just replace it. Thank you for the follow-up!
