My maytag make a terrible grinding noise during any agitation cycle (even when empty), yet fills & spins fine. Could it be the transmission or something else?
Thanks
Rick

I am having the same trouble, what model is your washer? Mine is a Bravo X and I noticed when I tilt mine back I had belt debris, and the agtation pulley has a lot of wobble when running ( I carefully tilt it back during a cycle and observed this). As of yet I have not figured a solution out. i will update you if I do.

Update the nut that holds the agitation pulley was loose. I left the belt on and the tightened the nut using "jerking motions" as the agitator moves with it. I have only run one load since this but the noise is gone. Hope this helps.

Make sure you do not over tighten and use a small amount of serviceable locktite on the threads
