My 1.5 year old washer just started making a grinding noise when I press start, then shuts down. There is a small load in it, so it’s not overloaded. The previous load made the same noise briefly, but did wash the load. It didn’t spin much water out, though. The noise seems to come from the upper left back side of the washer.
