My washer just started to make a rather loud grinding noise when at a higher spin speed to empty. It makes me think of a bearing or something worn type of sound. I would like to try & fix this myself, but not sure where to start. Any help would be appreciated.
It probably is a tub bearing, and given the difficulty of the repair and the fact that this machine is a rather troubled model I would look into replacing it. In our area you can get a basic top load washer for $300 to $350 and that may be your best option.
