Grit in glasses on top shelf

For months, I’ve found grit in the glasses after a washing cycle. The glasses are on the top shelf. This doesn’t happen if I put the glasses on the bottom rack. My husband thought it was because the bottom shelf was overloaded, but it happens if I leave the bottom rack empty. The garbage disposal is always run before I start the dishwasher, and I let hot water run through both sides of the sink.

What is causing this problem? I’m becoming disgusting with this "highly rated" dishwasher recommended by Consumer Reports. I end up washing the glasses by hand, which defeats the purpose of having a dishwasher in the first place. Is there something defective in the upper rack’s sprayer?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Have you cleaned the sprayer below the top rack? - sometimes it gets clogged w/ stuff and you can poke it out w/ a toothpick. If it isn’t that, you chopper assembly might be bad. I replaced mine a couple of years ago - getting all the stuff off to get to it is a bear, in fact I am trying to check it again and can’t get the last cover off - I’m looking for help on that now.
