Heat motor works slow, is it bad?

The heat motor on my frigidaire works to open the ice door (i had to replace the door and wire, the wire had rusted into two pieces), but the heat motor goes back to normal position very slow, takes 2 minutes or so, before the ice door will close. I try to push the heat motor with my finger and it still will not deflate completely for about 2 minutes. Is the heat motor bad?

What problem is this causing?

Here is some basic info on your heat motor

Here is a spec sheet on the motor and more info on design criteria

Thanks for the info. I thought maybe 5 or 10 seconds and the heat motor would return to normal position. Actually that’s what Gene had said when I started working on this (I should have continued that previous thread, but started a new one).

Anyway, from the info here it appears the 2 minutes may be normal. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t want it to close sooner though, the longer it stays open the more hot air gets in the freezer!!!

They do not want it to close too soon as there might still be ice in the chute and it could bust the assembly.

Thanks for the info!
