My GE Profile Dryer is 2 years 2 months old. It’s making a terrible screeching sound upon startup which goes away after a few seconds. It’s been doing this for quite a long time. I called GE Repair and they sent out this guy who gave me an estimate for $654 and he didn’t even open the unit up! He said it was the drum motor. I simply can’t trust someone who doesn’t even look inside. So I’m going to try and do it myself. I found the part on line for $100 cheaper than he was going to charge. But I need to know how to get inside. Do you think this is something I can do? I’m pretty handy at figuring things out.
